The maximum amount of Bitcoin that can ever be in circulation is 21 million. This limit is hardcoded into the Bitcoin protocol and cannot be changed. As of now, around 18.5 million Bitcoins have been mined, leaving approximately 2.5 million yet to be mined. Once all 21 million Bitcoins are mined, no new Bitcoins will be created, and the supply will be fixed.

Bitcoin has a maximum supply of 21 million coins. This limit ensures scarcity and prevents inflation. The supply of Bitcoin is controlled by the mining process, where miners compete to solve complex mathematical problems to validate transactions and add them to the blockchain. As the mining difficulty increases over time, the rate of Bitcoin creation decreases. This gradual issuance of new Bitcoins ensures a controlled and predictable supply.

According to the Bitcoin protocol, the maximum amount of Bitcoin that can be in circulation is 21 million. This limit was set by the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, to create scarcity and maintain the value of the cryptocurrency. The remaining Bitcoins will be gradually released through the mining process until the maximum supply is reached. Once all 21 million Bitcoins are in circulation, no more Bitcoins can be created.
