In the context of blockchain, each block contains a hash value that is generated by applying the SHA-256 algorithm to the block's data, including the previous block's hash value. This creates a chain of blocks, where each block's hash value is dependent on the previous block's hash value. If someone tries to tamper with the data in a block, the hash value will change, and the entire chain of blocks will be disrupted.
