However, SIPC insurance does not cover cryptocurrency exchanges. Cryptocurrency exchanges are not required to have SIPC insurance for customer funds. Unlike traditional brokerage firms, cryptocurrency exchanges are not regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and therefore are not subject to the same requirements.
